Common Problems

Correct Aftercare

All closures and toppers must be dried thoroughly after washing if wearing as a mesh integration system, if not dried throughout then the closure will start matting at the root.

They need to be kept clean and washed with our recommended shampoo which is milkshake moisture plus, not scrubbed and washed gently in a down-wards motion.

No conditioner near the base of the closure or topper as this can loosen the knots and cause the hair to shed.

A tangle teezer brush is recommended for your clients to use as a hard Bristle brush can pull the hair from the base causing the hair to shed.

If your client does not wash their hair regularly or they have an oily scalp this can also seep through the hair piece and cause the hair to shed! The product must be washed weekly to try and stop this from happening, or if you have a more active lifestyle then you’ll need to wash your hair two or three times a week then your closure or topper may not last as long as someone who hasn’t got an active lifestyle.

Colour Fading

If the colour has faded on your closure this is not our fault. The colour fades when the incorrect aftercare products are used, going swimming or out in the sun can also cause this to happen, especially with our lighter shades. It is not our responsibility to replace a closure if this happens.

Purple Shampoo

No purple shampoo is to be used on any of our hair as it dries the quality of the hair and strips the condition. Purple shampoo is used at your own risk.

Shedding

Shedding is a common side effect of incorrect aftercare, or using the wrong products on the base. If there is a manufacturing fault, the hair will tend to shed immediately within a week of wearing.

Any damage or shedding over a period of time is caused by the client wearing the hair. We are not responsible for replacing any closures that are damaged. You do have the right to request a repair which is at your own cost and if there is no product on the root or severe damage then our factory could, possibly, repair the hair for you. A request needs to be sent to Gemma via email hairclosures@gmail.com with your order number and proof of date of fitting, this could be a photo with the date of fitting on or social media post.

Closures and toppers will naturally shed over a period of time, they are a very delicate product and need looking after with the correct aftercare and advice.

Return Hairs

Return hairs are common with hand-tied products (short hairs coming from the base of your topper or closure). These just need to be sprayed with water, smoothed out with a hairdryer and then a little Morrocan oil hair spray or oil to tame them. They are not split ends or damaged goods, they just need to be set and tamed with a little styling.

Colouring and Product Application

Once a closure or topper has been coloured or any product applied to the root then any repair or reason for complaint is void. If you’re a stylist then you may wish to colour or tone the product but you do so in the full knowledge that you void any right to return for repair or refund.

If you’re a stylist using these for your clients you need to make sure your clients know all of this information, and we do not accept complaints from your clients we will only deal with you directly as our customer.
